Jean-Claude Paul-Dejean

Monsieur Paul-Dejean, agrégé de l'Université, is a retired history teacher.

He wrote the sections devoted to the department of the Landes and the Basque Country for the monumental "Dictionnaire du Mouvement Ouvrier" under the editorship of Jean Maitron. He is now working on a book about the forges of the valley of the Adour. His interest in the local history of Bayonne led him to discover Frédéric Bastiat and to develop an affection for him. For many years he has followed Bastiat’s trail in places where the latter lived and in libraries. He has discovered original manuscripts. He was the driving force behind the 1995 Bastiat conference organised by the Société des Arts, des Lettres, et des Sciences of Bayonne. Today he is probably the world’s leading expert on Frédéric Bastiat.

Jean-Claude Paul-Dejean kindly agreed to speak at the dinner-debate held on 28 September 1996 on the subject "Frédéric Bastiat’s Passion".
